How often do I need an eye exam?
If you don't fall into any special risk category, you should generally get your eyes checked every two years, or whenever you perceive a change in your vision.
Patients undergoing treatment for certain medical or eye conditions (or those with a family history of such conditions), contact lens wearers, and patients 65 years of age and older should see their eye doctor at least once a year.
When should I bring my child in for an eye exam?
It is important to have an optometrist examine your children's eyes to identify any vision issues early in life.
- It is advised that parents schedule a visit with an eye doctor at least once before the child's first birthday.
- The child should have another check-up between ages 3 and 5.
- The child will need a check-up before they enter first grade to ensure they are ready for school.
As your child grows up, they should continue to see an eye doctor annually or as directed by their care plan.
Are you in network with my vision plan?
The Winthrop Eye Center is **out-of-network** with all major vision plans, including Davis Vision, Eyemed, VSP, Spectera, Superior, Blue View, Cigna Vision, and Aetna Vision.
We are happy to help our patients submit claims to their vision plans to have the dollar value of their out-of-network benefits sent directly to their home address.
